Fund Criteria

Katana seeks to make capital investments in companies with clearly deliverable profits. While those companies selected for consideration by Katana represent a broad array of unique and growing enterprises, they share a few common characteristics:
Known Reserves
Known amounts of reserves with volume and production rates that support returns goal of the Fund is key in evaluating a potential opportunity. A qualifying opportunity will have a repeatable or duplicatable process to reliably extract the oil or gas from the reserve, minimizing exploration risk.
Confirmed Due Diligence
Selected prospective companies will be subjected to an exhaustive due diligence process by Katana and its advisors , examining a host of factors, including technical and economic merits and risk profile.
Active Involvement
The Fund will typically seek a Board seat or at minimum, the ability for an observer to attend all board meetings. We seek a management team that welcomes the added resources and support of the Fund. In situations where targeted company does not have the management required, the Fund is not opposed to building a management team from the ground up.
Competitive Advantage
All portfolio companies must have a competitive advantage in an attractive sub-sector of the oil and gas industry. This advantage could be a result of any of the following: Specialized Knowledge History of Superior Execution Proprietary Technology or Unique Resource Ownership Position.
